Thirsty?

We’ve all been there.

We’ve been so thirsty that the only thing we think about is water, and we would do anything for a cup of cool water. We know we need water for life and that water will refresh us and satisfy our thirst.

Friend, is your soul thirsty?

Are you craving peace, satisfaction, and meaning in life, but you cannot find it? Perhaps you, like many others, have tried to slake your soul’s thirst by making new friends, trying to be a better person, buying new gadgets, taking a drug or alcohol, or working a busy job. Eventually, we will realize that none of these things will ever satisfy the burning thirst in our soul.

Living Waters

Only God can satisfy your soul’s thirst. God tells us that nothing and no one else can quench thirst:

Jeremiah 2:13 “…They have forsaken me the Fountain of Living Waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.”

 Reason for  Thirst

Our souls are thirsty because our relationship with God, the Fountain of Living Waters, has been broken by sin.

1 Kings 8:46 “…There is no man that sinneth not…”

We are born and live as sinners, breaking God’s commands continually. Our sin separates us from God because He is holy and we are not.

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

No one is born in a right relationship with God. Our sin causes this separation from God; our souls are dying of thirst. And nothing we can do can satisfy our thirst.

Dying of Thirst

Jesus told a story of a man who died still separated from God.

Luke 16:24 The man cried out, “…Have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.”

That man never obtained relief from his thirst and is still experiencing eternal thirst in Hell, for all men who die thirsty deserve the penalty of eternal death in Hell. Our sin separates us from God.

God’s holiness demands judgment for sin and has declared death as the sentence.

Ezekiel 18:20 “The soul that sinneth, it shall die.”

Nothing we can do will alter that judgment: Hell is guaranteed as our destination if we die still separated from God.

Living Water

Jesus, God the Son, offers spiritual water that can quench any thirsty soul. God loves you so much that He sent Jesus Christ to die in your place.

John 4:14 “But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst…”

Jesus was born sinless, lived a perfect life, and died a cruel and bloody death on the cross for you.

Jesus took upon Himself the judgment that we deserved, so that we might receive eternal life.

Instead of dying thirsty and being eternally separated from God in Hell, we can receive forgiveness for our sin and eternal life.

The Invite

Isaiah 55:1 “…Every one that thirsteth, come ye…”

John 6:35 “…He that believeth on me shall never thirst.”

The invite is simple:

Receive Jesus as your personal Savior. Your decision to depend on Jesus alone for salvation is the only way to have your sins forgiven and to restore your broken relationship with God. Jesus will cleanse you from sin, wash your conscience of guilt, and slake the thirst in your soul.

Yours is the choice to make.

Your Decision

Psalm 116:13 I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the Lord.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Jesus will forgive your sin and you will receive eternal life the moment you trust Him completely to save you.

Will you call upon Him now?
